The Medical Research Center (MRC) was established in accordance with the 2001 Basic Medical Science Development Plan initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation in order to produce the highest level of researchers and to establish an infrastructure for the continuing development of health care through convergence with the clinical field.
Cell death is a major physiological to maintain homeostasis of the human body, and is also closely related to the cause or pathogenesis of various diseases including cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. As such, our work, which is focused on the development of measures or identification of genes for application to the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases associated with cell death, consists of research into the mechanism of cell death and its application to the pathogenesis of various diseases.
