Guide to Medical Insurance Obligation
For Foreign Students of The Graduate School (enrolled and completed students)
Universities have to make sure that foreign students buy medical insurance for the safe of life during studying abroad.
The type of insurance is not limited but universities should inform their students of insurance that can take sufficient medical advantage including "health insurance for foreigners" of Ministry of Health and Welfare.
1. Implementation of medical insurance obligation for graduate students at The Catholic University of Korea : Starting from each semester
2. Target : Foreign students of the graduate school (including completed students residing in Korea)
3. Registering period for medical insurance : By the beginning of March or September
- Every foreign student is required to have medical insurance until the graduation.
- According to the policy, student have to buy one year plan medical insurance except for students who are in their last semester which is six months.
4. Type of health insurance : Can choose one among National Health Service, private insurance

B. Dongbu Insurance (http://n.foreignerdb.com/DF0001.php?sn=catholic3) or other private insurances in Korea
5. Insurance Premium Payment : The individual student is responsible for the monthly payment
6. In case of NOT buying medical insurance
- Limitation on issuing any type of documents include certificate of registration and official transcript which is required for visa
- Possible disadvantage when applying for scholarship in the university or other
7. Submitting insurance policy : It is mandatory to submit copy of insurance policy to Academic & Student Affair Team By the beginning of March or September
