Since many modern diseases are incurable because of the obscurity of their causes, it is important to promote quality of life through the prevention and early diagnosis of diseases, as well as the prevention of the related complications, and the continuing management of diseases. In this respect, we believe that the best model of primary medical care is to see the man with disease by family doctor instead of seeing the disease carried by the man. Twenty-six years have passed since the establishment of the department in 1983 with the aim of training family medicine doctors and conducting the relevant education and research.
We have also accomplished considerable growth in terms of both quantity and quality throughout those years. Our achievements are not limited to those a sincere primary care giver beyond the boundary of department organization, but extend to diverse fields including smoking cessation, obesity, pain relief, and nutrition, which were not quite included in other doctors interests.
