DEPARTMENT OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL MEDICINE
The Department of Humanities and Social Medicine in the Catholic University, established in September 2006, is staffed by professionals who majored in History of Medicine, Medical Law and Ethics, Medical Anthropology, and Bioethics.
As a type of applied science, Humanities and Social Medicine is designed to help students acquire multidimensional insight into the medical field based on convergence among different educational systems. This relies on communication between the Humanities and Social Science fields including Philosophy, Histological Science, Ethics, Theology, Anthropology and Sociology, among others, as well as between science fields related to Health Care including medical science, in order to verbalize and reorganize the basic concept of health care. Through this process, we aim to find a way of enabling communication between healthcare providers, between healthcare providers and patients, between medical science as a Natural Science and health care as a Humanities and Social Science, and ultimately between the health care field and society.
