The department has developed its won time-honored traditions since its establishment at the beginning of the domestic history of plastic surgery. So far we have produced more than 100 plastic surgeons and published about 350 papers in domestic or international scientific journals. We are also active in the sphere of education, having launched our independent lectures in 1986 and a major in the graduate school in 1989. We are also conducting research into the development of medical science by establishment of a research center for plastic surgery on the opening of the Medical Research Institute in 1997, and the Cell Culture and Tissue Engineering Research Institute subsidized in the Research Center for plastic surgery in 1998.
