The Department of Psychiatry at the Catholic University of Korea was established in 1960 and first set up the child psychiatry, suicide prevention center, and research institute for epilepsy in Korea. Until now, the department has produced about 200 special psychiatrists and they have been highly active in clinical and research fields both at home and abroad. Current faculties in our department composed of 9 hospitals in affiliation take the lead in several research groups of subcommittee on psychiatry. The leading areas of our department include national longitudinal study on depression, research of sleep disorder, addictive disorder, brain stimulation methods, neuroimaging studies in degenerative disorders, and genetic studies on major psychiatric diseases. Moreover, the comprehensive and systematic training program for residents has been served as a model for others and has turned out talented psychiatric specialists annually.

The human mind, psychiatric disease, and brain science are very interesting and promising areas of research. Furthermore, social interests and needs about mental health and well-being have been increased. We hope your attention and application to our department.
