The department was launched as part of St. Marys Hospital on Songsin Medical School establishment and was put into todays organization in May 1957. Currently, our department has 78 staff members and 59 resident fellows in 8 affiliated hospitals, all of whom are dedicated to patient consultation, education and research.
We are also known throughout the country for conducting the most intensive basic medical research, and we have gained a reputation for conducting the most active research activities in the new molecular biology field since 1984.
Our research activities has resulted in the publication of about 150 papers in domestic and/or international scientific journals annually, along with 50 to 60 presentations at conferences, with 2 or 3 basic research subjects being conducted by each affiliated hospital.
